Sharing our learning

This half term we have been finding out about the countries of Europe and the capital cities. We have also looked at the geographical features, particularly mountains and rivers.
We used this information to design our own games in the style of 'Snakes and Ladders'. In our assembly on Friday we shared our learning and our games with our families.

Children In Need Day!

To raise money for Children in Need we agreed to bring our teddies to school for a small donation.

This proved very popular!
First, we did some teddy bear maths. We measured the height and the arm span of our teddies and then found the difference, e.g. Marcel's teddy's height was 0.39m and the arm span was 0.27. We calculated the difference using the counting on method. This was 0.12.

Our teddies came in all shapes and sizes!

In the afternoon we shared books with our Reception class buddies and all their teddies too!

It was a fun day, and we raised lots of money too.

Space topic

Space
Our first topic this year is ‘Space’. The topic has a science focus and we will be learning fascinating facts about the Sun, Moon & Earth and developing an understanding of day and night, the four seasons and the Moon’s phases. The Sun and the planets making up our Solar System will be investigated, along with the other stars in their constellations.  Try the website below to find out more about the Earth, Sun and Moon.
